Submissions
The journal invites original research articles in mathematics and its interactions with artificial intelligence.
Submissions should present significant and original contributions, either in core areas of pure and applied mathematics or in the development of mathematical methods relevant to artificial intelligence, machine learning and data-driven sciences. Manuscripts must not be under consideration elsewhere.
How to submit
There is no account to create and no password. You will receive a reference number of the form JMAI-2026-0001 immediately; quote it in any correspondence. Every named author is written to separately to confirm that the paper has been submitted in their name, so please give working addresses for all of them.
The file you upload is the copy the referees read, so it must not identify you. The full checklist is in the author guidelines.
Author eligibility
Authors are expected to have an established research presence. Any one of the following is sufficient, and it need only apply to the submitting author:
- an ORCID iD;
- a MathSciNet (MR) Author ID;
- a zbMATH Author ID;
- a recommendation from an established researcher in the field.
A preprint is not required. We do not ask you to make the work public in order to submit it, since a public preprint would defeat double-blind review.
What happens next
A managing editor prescreens the paper for scope and for the journal's author criteria, usually within two weeks. If it goes forward, a handling editor is assigned and referees are invited. A first decision typically follows within one to three months.
All submissions are refereed double-blind: the identities of authors and referees are concealed from each other. The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief on the recommendation of the handling editor.
Scope
The journal welcomes submissions in areas including, but not limited to:
- algebra, number theory, and algebraic geometry;
- analysis, topology, and combinatorics;
- computational and symbolic mathematics;
- mathematical physics;
- machine learning theory and optimisation;
- mathematical foundations of artificial intelligence.
Submissions that establish new connections between mathematics and artificial intelligence are particularly encouraged. The full list is on the scope page.
